Ethiopia joins Nigeria, Zambia and Burkina Faso in Group C for African Cup of Nations

Ethiopia, which is returning to the African Cup of Nations for the first time in 31 years, is drawn in Group C along with African football giant Nigeria, Burkina Faso and defending champion Zambia. The drawing was held in South Africa , the host country of the tournament.

Ethiopia’s opening game will be against defending champion Zambia on January 21, 2013 at Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, South Africa. Ethiopia will face Burkina Faso on January 25, 2013 and Nigeria on January 29, 2013 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg.

Ethiopia’s manager Sewnet Bishaw’s motto is simple, “Respect All Fear None”. He was quoted by BBC as saying, “We respect every opponent we might meet but already we’ve played the hosts and they failed to beat us,” Bishaw said, referring to a 1-1 draw with South Africa in a World Cup qualifier in Rustenburg earlier this year. He went on to say his side fear no-one.
